What you must remember:
- Chromium is an essential element in the human body and is found in many foods
- It allows the regulation of nutrient metabolism
- Thanks to this function, chromium is an ideal ally for regulating blood sugar levels.
- It is important to respect the contraindications to taking chromium as well as the recommended daily doses.
- Regular intake of chromium in a diabetic person must be supervised by a medical professional.
What is Chromium?
Chromium is an essential trace element for the body. It is present in human tissues and is originally provided through foods or dietary supplements. It has many benefits for the body and in particular that of being essential for maintaining the balance of carbohydrate and lipid levels in the body. The most commonly used forms are chromium chloride, chromium nicotinate and chromium picolinate. However, the preferred form for good assimilation is that of picolinate. Indeed, this molecule is very well integrated by the human body.
Many food sources therefore exist: meats, whole grains, certain vegetables (broccoli, asparagus, onions, mushrooms), certain shellfish (oysters, mussels) and nuts.
The benefits and virtues of Chrome
Chromium has many virtues and benefits. Its main action focuses on managing the metabolism of nutrients such as carbohydrates, lipids and proteins, which makes it a real ally for regulating blood sugar and contributing to weight loss .
Chromium and nutrient metabolism
As explained previously, chromium has an essential benefit, that of maintaining homeostasis of the metabolism of nutrients such as carbohydrates (glucose or more commonly called sugar ), lipids and proteins. In fact, it leads to a reduction in the levels of glucose and lipids in the blood while improving the activity of the transporters of these molecules. This means that the molecules pass through the blood for a shorter time and are used more quickly as energy for the body, broken down or stored for some.
Chromium and blood sugar
Chromium supplementation is associated with a reduction in glycated hemoglobin (hbA1c), a protein representing the evolution of glycemia (blood sugar level) over time during the weeks preceding a blood test. This therefore reflects the development of diabetes in patients with type 1 or type 2 diabetes. Indeed, sugar can have many harmful effects on the body and in particular on the intestinal microbiota.
The lower the hbA1c percentage, the more balanced the blood sugar level. This phenomenon is believed to be due to an improvement in insulin sensitivity following chromium supplementation. However, these results are only preliminary and the modalities are quite heterogeneous. Indeed, not all studies agree because different sources as well as different dosages of chromium are administered.
Indications and dosage of Chromium
Chromium supplementation is generally in the form of capsules. Currently, the recommended daily dose is 40 mcg. In addition, the usual doses listed in supplements are 50 to 200 mcg/day. In general, food provides a dose equivalent to 25 mcg/day.
The dose should not exceed 1200 mcg/day at the risk of causing serious adverse effects. In addition, taking chromium is not recommended for people with diabetes due to its action on blood sugar levels.
Bring Chromium to your body thanks to DIJO
We have integrated chromium into the formulation of our Focus Slim product in order to promote better digestion thanks to a good supply of prebiotics while providing essential nutrients to boost metabolism . Indeed, weight food supplements allow you to regulate your weight while taking care of your intestinal flora. Prebiotics are to be differentiated from probiotics, these good bacteria which constitute our intestinal microbiota. This is the food for these probiotics which allows them to develop better. This is why combining these two products creates a real synergy, thus leading to an increase and prolongation of the benefits. Focus Slim is to be taken as a 1-month treatment, in the morning on an empty stomach.
This treatment should be taken as part of a balanced lifestyle in order to observe deep and lasting effects. Does not replace a varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle. Keep out of reach of young children. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Not recommended for pregnant and breastfeeding women.
